a teen vogue feature

I love showing glimpses of my Philadelphia apartment and all the crazy things inside it, and now you can see quite a bit more courtesy of my feature on Teen Vogue! Donut makes a brief appearance (for all you hardcore Donut fans), as does my hat wall and a rather nutty 1960's dress I scrounged up at the flea market. Hopefully the young readers of Teen Vogue don't find out that I'm actually an old lady and instead focus on the importance of collecting weird books and removing stray hairs from shoes before inviting people over to photograph your apartment (see last photo). See lots more photos here!

ellegirl japan

I was beyond thrilled when I was approached last month about having my apartment featured in ELLEgirl Japan, especially because Japan has always been at the very top of my list of places I'm dying to visit. It's fun sharing my new apartment because it still feels like the perfect blank canvas, a space that is completely my own and a large part of my new life in Philadelphia. I'm still tweaking things here and there but it's already becoming a cozy home in my eyes. Perhaps once I acquire a few more pieces for my Gene Wilder shrine I will feel really solid. As for what the article above actually says, I can't even begin to remember, but I can guarantee it's super dorky. And I'm actually 28 (the article says 27), but I may have been enjoying a glass or two of red wine while responding to questions, so...

belles of vintage fashion

I'm one excited girl right now, for so many reasons (some of them top secret for the time being)... but one of them is this wonderful spread in the 'Throwback' issue of Asterisk Magazine shot by the talented Micaela Hoo. It features Isla, Jen, Annalise and myself wearing some of our favorite vintage pieces. My limp hand in the second photo is still cracking me up. You can find details about what we're wearing and see photos of the other girls here!

benefit + modcloth

Sometimes I get to do some pretty cool things and this was indeed one of them. ModCloth asked me to be one of two models for a collaboration with Benefit and these are the results, just in time for a bit of Valentine's Day primpin'. I remember being 17 years old and obsessed with Benetint, one of Benefit's very first products. That girl would have been completely stoked to know that this photo shoot would happen years later. Actually, I don't think Young Ashley would have believed it for two seconds. The best part of this whole thing is that my grandma took one look at these photos and immediately purchased every single product they were promoting. Too cute.

a fancy bedroom feature

Last month I had the pleasure of having my bedroom and vintage collection featured in the San Francisco-based magazine Asterisk. The photos were taken by Jeremy Joven, the incredibly sweet founder and editor who certainly had his work cut out for him. I don't think he realized just how many things I have tucked in every corner of my apartment... my closets are literally bursting open! You can peek at the final result (including an interview) right here. They also featured me alongside some lovely fellow Bay Area bloggers here.

Wearing a 1960's shift dress I found at a vintage store in Santa Rosa.

I always have a rotating selection of dresses hanging on my door... partly because of space issues and partly because I love looking at them!

The heart-shaped frame contains a photo of my cute parents when they were about my age. My mom is making a goofy face... I learned from the best.

I collect oversized silk blouses with funny animal prints. How could I resist?

I have some pretty strange books in my collection... the sillier and weirder the better! Face Lifting By Exercise is one of many gems...

Some of my favorite shoes... from left to right: 1960's clear vintage heels, 1960's orange brocade heels, 1980's Ferragamos, silver sparkle mary-janes from Tic Tac Toes, and Chelsea Crew heels.

Three vintage purses. The gorgeous red velvet clutch is from Bohemian Bisoux Vintage, one of the loveliest Etsy shops ever.

blogger of the moment, oh my!

I'm so so so very excited to announce that Modcloth has chosen me as their Blogger of the Moment! They even named a rather painfully adorable dress after the blog... and yes, a large bow is obviously involved (photos of me prancing around in it very soon!). You can read the nerdy interview here if you're in the mood for a bit of rambling about vintage, karaoke, and ballroom dancing. You can also peek at my favorite Modcloth items, a list that mostly includes the sweetest of dresses. Thanks to everyone at Modcloth (especially Turi!) and to all of the wonderfully sweet ladies who have already showered me with kind words. You guys have put the dopiest, hugest grin on this face!

golden fur vintage + bust photos

So many pretty vintage things, it's enough to make a girl's head explode! These photos, featuring my friend and mega-babe Emily, are from her amazing Etsy shop Golden Fur Vintage. She just filled the shop with so many great Spring treasures and they are all super affordable. I know you already hate me for constantly enabling your online shopping addiction (I hate myself too, don't worry!), but I couldn't resist sharing the cuteness.

For those of you who haven't seen the new issue of BUST, here is my goofy mug on their pages... (I swiped the scans from Hannah, whose lovely undies I'm wearing in the second photo.)
