early nineties

dress  vintage from wasteland
cardigan  vintage

A trip to the grocery store at midnight is always an adventure, especially when there's a near-empty parking lot in which to run around. I wasn't thinking about it at the time but this outfit is rather head-to-toe 90's. All I needed was some plum lipstick and a couple of slap bracelets. I'm wary of some 90's trends but I can never seem to resist a loose babydoll dress with a really good print. I even broke down and bought a hilariously amazing long-sleeved jumpsuit at a thrift store that looks like something Elaine Benes would have worn. I was going to sell it but once I put it on and saw how perfectly it fit I was under its spell forever. Oh 90's, you have your charms.

fancy frump

cardigan  vintage
dress  thrifted
tights  american apparel
shoes  vintage ferragamo

I love mixing something super feminine and fancy with something a bit frumpy, like this crazy lace cardigan and 90's babydoll dress. Contrasts in outfits are always appealing to me. I have one commenter who likes to point out when I am veering into "frumpy" territory and then congratulates me when I go the other way, not realizing perhaps that this is just how I dress (whether or not I'm being photographed), there is no underlying plea for "constructive criticism." What you see is what you get, which is why I will always delete the negative comments because they serve no purpose. Fortunately there aren't too many of those! I found the amazing cardigan at the Vintage Fashion Expo a year ago and I love imagining the glamorous older lady that wore it before me. That Hansel from Basel tote bag has been on my arm nearly every day since I bought it. If my hair looks different in these photos it's because I actually (gasp!) ran a brush through it. Baby steps.

pretty necklaces + cat modeling

I'm sure you are already familiar with my newest Etsy model, my cat Donut. I don't know how she feels about being thrust into the spotlight but I do know she is awesome and fluffy... and I just couldn't resist photographing her wearing a vintage necklace for the shop. I just listed these two beautiful necklaces which you can find here and here. Which one is your favorite?

fake polaroids

(Wearing vintage dresses in the first few photos and an H&M blouse with a vintage skirt in the last two.)

A few (fake!) polaroids courtesy of my friend Peter's fancy phone. I'm pretty much content to have a crappy phone for the rest of my life, but I still like to marvel at the fancy machines my friends own and what they can do. These were all taken in and around my favorite karaoke bar, in between singing and stuffing my face with pizza. My friend Kaila is the pretty blonde in the fifth photo... she has one of the best tumblrs ever.
