bedroom eyes

Photos by Kristin Cofer

A mini photo shoot by my lovely friend Kristin Cofer (who happened to shoot these photos as well). I wore my favorite jellyfish-style vintage dress and a pale pink slip (and, er, a little bit less in a photo that I will probably never share). Donut couldn't stand not being the center of attention so she made sure to get in at least one shot. I need to get that cat some modeling gigs... you should see her smize!

Things I've been digging lately:

1.) Louise Brooks. I've always loved her but after reading this incredible biography it's safe to say I'm obsessed forever.
2.) These rose gold glitter boots from Pixie Market. Just the right amount of goofy glamour.
3.) Bright Young Twins, one of the loveliest blogs I have discovered recently.
4.) I know I already own blue glittery sunglasses, but... these!
5.) My roommate Julia's tumblr devoted to The Bachelor (trust me).
6.) Dance Moms. I don't know how I only just started watching this... pure camp.
7.) It's almost March and that means two things: my birthday is soon (the 15th) and CADBURY CREAM EGGS!

My neighborhood is overflowing with amazing, cheap food. It's gotten to the point where I hardly ever eat at home, unless it's to make myself eggs and toast in the morning. How could I resist the temptation of burgers from Pearl's Deluxe? Ramen from Katana-ya? Pho from Turtle Tower? Indian food from Shalimar? The truth is that I don't resist. Sometimes I look at my kitchen and feel a twinge of guilt but mostly I just look forward to the next time I get to stuff my face with delicious food.

On this particular day I went on an epic walk around San Francisco with my brother, starting at Turtle Tower with two huge bowls of pho, stopping at a hole-in-the-wall bakery in Chinatown for dessert, and then on to North Beach for coffee. I wore my trusty navy blue polka dot dress that I usually throw on when I can't be bothered to think too much about my outfit (I wear it probably more than any other) and a newly acquired coat ($10 at the flea market!) and sweetly coerced my brother in taking Outfit Photos. This involved a minor bit of instruction ("Um, could you squat down a bit when you take them?") and lots of laughing. My brother thinks I'm a giant dork and he is right.

Sometimes I like pretending to be a tourist. These photos were shot around Fisherman's Wharf, the ultimate tourist destination in San Francisco. We visited the Musee Mechanique (possibly the best place ever), Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, and every single seafood stand. And naturally we ended up at In-N-Out for the most delicious burgers in the world. A successful adventure!
