birthdays & magazines

My lovely lady Lauren (alliteration!) celebrated her 23rd birthday last night. There were cocktails galore and a bit of drunken karaoke in a dangerously hot room to top it all off. I've also been itching to finally share with you the article I was featured in for San Francisco magazine. They gave me the entire back page and wrote quite flattering, lovely things... albeit things that made me snort with laughter. It's just too weird reading about yourself. The best part was the description in the table of contents: "A local shopgirl's cyber runway draws international fans." Priceless.

Finally, a beautifully sunny day in San Francisco. I ran around Chinatown and North Beach with my lovely friend Lauren, taking silly photos and dodging tourists all the while. We ate gelato and looked for cheap shoes and spied on all the weirdos in the park. It was lazy and absolutely perfect. And best of all, the day ended with cheeseburgers from In N' Out and a bowling party for my older brother's birthday. More sunshiney days please!

purikura

One of my favorite ways to spend the day is trolling around Japantown: eating ramen, buying cute stationary I don't need, and most importantly, taking purikura photos like the ones above. Purikura is what they call the Japanese sticker photo booths that allow you to decorate the images with all kinds of amazing graphics. Victor and I are obsessed. This might be the first installment of many purikura posts, because I have so many more of them... and it's a fun way to show you what I'm wearing, too.

P.S. A few readers have asked about my hair... It is indeed naturally wavy and this is it's natural color. In fact, I don't do anything to it except brush my bangs and let the rest air-dry. Pretty boring, eh?

dream shoes

I am always endlessly searching for the perfect shoes, and maryjanes are high on my list. So I was over the moon to discover the Tic-Tac-Toes web site... it's shoe heaven! So many adorable, vintage-inspired shoes with perfect little heels. And there are bows! And glitter! Needless to say I was quite excited today to order my first pair, the first style above in red. I definitely see a few more pairs in my future.

familiar haunts

A delicious dinner with a good friend, several rounds of mayhem at my favorite karaoke haunt, plans made to watch The Way We Were and make snowcap cupcakes. All in all, last night was wonderful. I'd like to thank everyone who has been commenting on my posts... I appreciate all the sweetness and support. If anyone has any suggestions for me regarding future post content, navigation, etc., please let me know!

oh summer sun

(photos by me & Lauren Muzzy)

A few more photos from my brief vacation in Vegas. Oh what I would give to be sitting in a pool right now! In unrelated news, the lovely Jennifer of Sally Jane Vintage was sweet enough to feature me on her wonderful blog. I'm beyond flattered that someone I have admired from afar for over a year likes my style too!

flattery overload

In an unexpected and delightful turn of events, San Francisco magazine has decided to do a little feature on me and this blog. I'm a bit worried that I sounded like a giant goober when answering the questions, so I'm crossing my fingers that they will edit me to sound interesting and articulate. A girl can dream. And in other news, the folks at Style Sofia were lovely enough to include me in one of their lookbook features...
