a tea party

Sometimes I feel like every photo shoot might as well be a dance party. The lovely Jen took these photos and made me laugh like a fool the entire time. We had just come from a tea party hosted by the amazing gals at Modcloth where we were completely spoiled with piles of tasty treats. I'll be sharing some of the photos I took very soon, and you can see a few on their blog here!

a morning walk

blouse  1920's vintage from the alameda flea market

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being photographed by the incredibly talented (and young! and sweet!) French photographer Charlotte Ortholary. She lives in Paris and was visiting San Francisco for the first time. We were running out of time to schedule a photo shoot so she ended up accompanying me on my morning walk to work (which is a little over 2 miles long and involves several hills). We stopped whenever a bit of architecture appealed to Charlotte and spent the rest of the time talking about traveling, vintage and photography. I also pointed out every interesting place we happened to pass, kind of like my own Fancy Fine Walking Tour (ha). I love these final photos because they give me a fresh perspective on the scenery I pass by on a daily basis, making the ordinary look beautiful.

Go peek at Charlotte's portfolio, there are some incredibly amazing photos on there!

circles & waves

blouse  thrifted
slip  thrifted
skirt  vintage
boots  vintage

A hastily thrown together outfit: a newly acquired blouse (I love anything that ties at the waist) and a skirt that's been sitting in my closet for a while now waiting for a spin. Last night I celebrated my lovely girl Lauren's birthday (at my favorite karaoke spot, of course) and tonight my friend is picking me up on his motorcycle for an adventure that will most likely revolve around eating lots of food (my vote is usually greasy Indian food). My mind has been a bit overcrowded lately with thoughts of everything, so it's nice to think about something as simple as what to eat for dinner. Until, that is, I start to realize just how many choices San Francisco has to offer in the eating department, and then ohhhhhh man...

sponsor fancy fine in september!

Calling all purveyors of vintage and handmade goodness: I am currently accepting new sponsors for the month of September! If you have a shop or project you'd like to promote please contact me for rates and details at hi@ashleyording.com. My New York trip is fast approaching and I'm trying to raise money for it, which means I'll be more open-minded than ever to haggling if you're on a budget. Don't be shy!

a vintage wedding shoot, part two

photos by danica suskin
styling by angel phillips

Here are the final photos from the vintage wedding shoot. I love how they turned out, although looking at them does make me wish desperately that this dress was in my closet! Hopefully some lucky lady will snag it from Ver Unica and have some lovely adventures in it.
