My dad took these photos and shortly afterwards sang his first karaoke song ever: a duet of "I've Got You Babe" with none other than my mom. I can't even put into words just how incredibly, heart-warmingly adorable this was. The beaded cardigan in the photos is one of the pieces I bought at the Vintage Fashion Expo, although these photos don't quite do it justice. I think my parents are highly amused that I have a "style blog" and want so many photos of my clothes. And they should be amused, because it's a pretty funny concept. I will always feel like a dork posing for these outfit photos but I will keep doing it as long as I'm inspired to share my finds with you guys, and I hope that my fellow bloggers never stop sharing their own wardrobes and lives. Let's all continue to be giant dorks together!

vintage fashion expo heaven

Twice a year my favorite event ever comes to San Francisco: the Vintage Fashion Expo. I haven't missed one since I started going about eight years ago, and every time I end up finding the most beautiful  pieces that become staples in my wardrobe. This year was no exception: a gorgeous nude lace dress from the 20's, a gold heart locket necklace that I've been wearing every day, a sheer white polka dot bed jacket, a black and white gingham 50's sundress, and more that I can't even remember right now. Basically I completely lost my mind in a haze of loveliness. What could possibly be better? (Well, lunch at Zuni Cafe afterwards could be a close second place.)

Jen (Hummingbird Girls) and Nicole (Fashion Forestry) looking dolled up and amazing as always.

I was wearing all vintage... a silk dress from the 30's and a 60's coat.

On the bottom left you can spy my giant green shopping tote... which was overflowing by the time I left! Goodbye $$$!

behind the scenes: bust photo shoot

Being part of a photo shoot for BUST magazine was pretty magical. I've been wanting to share these behind-the-scenes photos with you guys for a while but I had to wait until the issue came out... and it's out! I'm still quite tickled that they wanted me to model in a fashion editorial based purely on checking out Fancy Fine. My girl Lauren accompanied me and shot a lot of these photos in addition to watching hours of terrible daytime television in the motel room (oh the things you do for love). Everybody on set was incredibly friendly and they didn't seem to mind my constant stream of really bad dad jokes (in fact the photographer, Gabriela Hasbun, encouraged me to be even goofier than usual). Hey BUST, let's do it again!

I spent a good deal of time watching hot surfer dudes undress through the binoculars... until one caught me! We're dating now. (Not really.)

These shoes were a nightmare getting on and off... but they sure did look cool.

Erin (left) was my model buddy for the day, and she's a real model. Angel (right) was the amazing stylist.

Part of my "job" that day was to eat BBQ ribs and mac n' cheese. Heaven.

Lauren trying on some beautiful sunglasses.

Wearing my own vintage bed jacket in between shooting.

Wearing my own vintage beaded crop top with pretty underwear by The Loved One.

Inspiration on the walls of the motel room.

Please come curl my hair all pretty every morning?

This is what I reverted to when I wasn't being photographed for reals.
