maine life

f you follow me on Instagram then you already know that my fiancé and I are living in the woods of Maine. That's right, this city mouse is currently experiencing life as a country mouse, to the fullest extent. Christopher owns a beautiful gem of a house on a lake, and we have filled it with all of our combined belongings (including my hundreds of dresses, eek). I do miss Philadelphia, particularly the people, but I am excited that we have a rare moment to breathe and figure out what we'd like to do next. I won't lie, moving here has been a complete shock to my system. In ways both lovely and difficult. I put a lot of pressure on myself to fill every single moment, to constantly be productive and creative no matter what, and that can take its toll on a girl. I have never been good at sitting still and living a slow life, and for the time being I have no choice. But it may just be the best thing for me right now. We are both excited about the unknown future and where we might end up, and it seems that (to use a cheesy phrase) the world is our oyster. We don't know what will happen next, but in the meantime we are enjoying this adventure in one of the most beautiful states and savoring the fun of planning a life together.

As for the arrangement above, I made that entirely out of foraged forest clippings. Maine this time of year is famous for its crazy spectacular Fall foliage, and I wanted to make something that captured those hues. I've been interested in learning how to arrange for a while now, so this is me fooling around a bit and seeing if it's something I should pursue.

Oh, and Donut is adjusting quite nicely!
