the denim surprise

This is the first pair of actual jeans that I've worn in years. A funny moment indeed, but naturally I picked a pair covered in weird flowers. I'm certainly not going to become a denim convert any time soon, but I must say these are a fine (albeit surprising) addition to the wardrobe, and I find myself gravitating towards the more ripped up boyfriend style jeans when making outfits at work. Something a bit different for a change.

daisy heaven

This 1960's I. Magnin blouse is one of the best things I've ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. Those sheer sleeves! Those embroidered daisies! That collar! This magical piece was sent to me by the adorable Whitney who owns a shop in LA called Myrtle that I'm still dying to visit. She is also constantly posting perfect outfits and photos of indie designer pieces on the shop's Instagram, inspiring me to make a little trip south the next time I find myself on the west coast. In the meantime I will be thoroughly enjoying this dream blouse and wishing I could have it in every color.

casual sunday chest bumping

How do two friends who haven't seen each other in months celebrate their reunion? Well, a bit of casual chest bumping in the street of course. I think Emily and I successfully confused a good portion of the folks in my neighborhood (sorry dudes!) with this display of bro affection, but we had a damn fun time doing it.

apple picking

I've been a bit melancholy about the seasons moving forward so quickly as of late (at least in my mind), but today I decided to embrace this slightly brisk weather and go apple picking with my man. We drove out to Solebury Orchards in New Hope where we filled a bag with PiƱata apples, drank apple cider, and enjoyed the pretty autumn colors. I'm still not ready to wear tights, but now I'm a tiny bit less sad that summer has come and gone.

a new bedroom

It's funny how many wonderful people I have met through the internet, sometimes I forget that some of my closest friends and favorite collaborators are ones that I first communicated with via Myspace, or Friendster, or blog comments. Darcy Rogers and I met via the internet years ago and we have managed to meet up for a photo shoot a few times each year. We both hail from Northern California but are enjoying life on the East Coast (crazy winters and all). It was especially fun to collaborate on a shoot this time around because I am just settling into my new apartment (shared with my boyfriend of almost two years) and it was the perfect opportunity to document the process. Darcy observed that wherever I live I tend to pick a spot with a lot of natural light flooding in, and although I had never actively thought about this, she is completely right. I still have some work to do before I feel like this apartment is "done," but I love that Darcy was able to capture things as they are right now, natural light and all.
