in between

A few snaps behind the scenes at my last Fancy Fine Vintage photo shoot featuring my friend Abby. I'm madly in love with her amazing peach Dieppa Restrepo shoes. Donut, as usual, tried to insert herself into every shot when she wasn't napping on all the clothing we flung onto my bed. You wouldn't believe how vigorously I have to shake things out before shipping them just to get all the cat hairs off! This is my little world: endless amounts of vintage + cat hair forever.

home sweet home

These photos were shot in my parents' beautiful garden. I hadn't been home in a while so it was especially nice to visit while everything was in full bloom. As much as I love San Francisco sometimes I'm happy for a break from the hills, the people, and the occasional chaos...

P.S. This is my 300th post on Fancy Fine... craazy!

wine country

Last weekend I traveled up north to Geyserville with a friend for a bit of wine tasting, antiquing and frolicking. I grew up in Santa Rosa (the "bottle neck of wine country") so it's always fun for me to visit my old favorite spots. We made a quick stop in Petaluma so I could visit my favorite antique store and then made our way to the Francis Coppola winery for lunch on a sunny balcony overlooking the vineyards. I felt pretty darn spoiled! A few wineries later I ended up at my parents' house where my grandma complimented me on my choice of a short slip under the longer sheer dress. My mom just wrinkled her nose and said "I'm not sure I approve of the 'nude illusion' look." Ha! I'll keep that in mind, Mom.

P.S. I must admit that I felt more than a little guilty about my rather luxurious little adventure when I read the news the following day about the shooting in Norway. My heart goes out to everyone that was affected by this terrible tragedy.

the clash

I love a good clash of prints, and for some reason this particular vintage coat always inspires me to do a funny mix. You probably noticed the new Fancy Fine header up there... It was illustrated by the lovely Lucy Meyle who I've been a fan of for a while. I thought it was about time I enlisted someone with actual talent to add some prettiness to this blog (especially because my so-so graphic design skills weren't cutting it). What do you think about the new look?

just like honey

Summer has been treating me well so far: salsa lessons, weekend adventures, pretty new shoes, wine country jaunts, last minute photo shoots, karaoke mischief, and lots of random fun with friends. Sometimes I feel like things are gathering so much momentum in this moment, it's as though my life is really only just beginning right now. I love knowing how much more there is... so many places to be visited, so many karaoke songs to sing, so many glasses of champagne to be enjoyed, so many episodes of True Blood to make me blush profusely.

Tonight I'm celebrating the birthday of my friend Peter, one of my favorite people on the planet and the one who shoots most of the photos on this blog. He is my partner in crime and thrift and I'm lucky to call such a cool dude my friend. He also does an amazing karaoke rendition of "Beauty School Dropout" so if you're ever in San Francsico...
