A few photos from the sidewalk sale I hosted with my fellow Golden Collective ladies a few weeks ago. We had a visit from the adorable Hannah of Heart City Vintage and spent pretty much the entire time goofing around and enticing every cute girl that walked by to stop and peek at our wares. We'll be hosting another vintage pop-up at Asterisk headquarters on July 6th, details about that soon!

the sequined dream coat
dress vintage
fascinator vintage from bohemian bisoux
purse vintage from clever nettle
shoes fletcher by lyell
When I first spotted this coat (at Time Zone Vintage in San Jose) I fell madly in love but I left it behind because I knew my bank account would thank me. And then I spent an entire week fantasizing about all the outfits I could wear it with, all the endless combinations. This sequined coat was the missing link, the holy grail of coats! I will admit I felt rather silly thinking about it so much, but at the end of the week I couldn't bear the thought of losing it forever so I called the shop and made it mine. It's one of those fancy pieces that somehow works, at least in my wardrobe, with nearly everything. When I picked it up from the shop the lady helping me asked if I was going to wear it for a special occasion and I happily replied, "Nope, I'm just going to wear it all the damn time for no reason!" I think she understood.

vintage fashion faire
Last week I had the pleasure of attending a preview party for the Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire. I rarely miss an opportunity to see a bunch of beautiful vintage pieces in one place, and this particular event had me oohing and ahhing every second. There were over fifty booths filled with treasures from every era, including some of the loveliest lace pieces I've ever seen. I managed to scoot out of there with only two things (a 1960's gingham dress coat and a 1950's yellow polka dot day dress), a small miracle considering how much damage I usually do at these things. Maybe not bringing my giant tote bag with me was a smart move, for my wallet at least! I will share photos of the outfit I wore soon... there was a sequined coat involved that you can see a glimpse of below, my favorite new find.
The highlight of the event was spotting this adorable one-eyed little bud. The cutest.
I have no idea what weird facial expression I was going for here, but I rather liked those glasses.
My style icon for the evening! This lady looked so amazing in her bright pink coat and marabou hat.
This amazing jazz band played on a stage filled with mid-century furniture, so good.

tiered + shaggy
dress vintage, thrifted
shoes vintage
I am increasingly picky about adding non-vintage pieces to my wardrobe, mostly because so many of them aren't my style and when they are my style the prices often make them unattainable. But this funny little cardigan/jacket/muppet sweater from shopakira seems to fit right in, despite totally sticking out at the same time. It's fuzzy! It's fringy! It's weird in the best possible way. The tiered 1970's dress is one I've had for a few years but I think it will be making its way into the shop soon because I can't keep every single dress forever... as much as I'd like to, for dress museum purposes.
