I'm beyond excited for my New York trip (September 6th - 13th), so much that I decided to organize a picnic with the help of Emily of It Girl, Rag Doll, Erin of Calivintage, and Rebecca of The Clothes Horse. It's been a while since I've done a larger shop update, so here you go: lots and lots of pretty dresses, skirts and blouses! For those of you Etsy buyers who might not know about recent changes: Etsy has altered the search function on their site so that things automatically show up in a "most relevant" order instead of "most recent" (which was the old way). I don't know about you but I prefer to see the most recently listed things first, especially because I'm constantly searching for what's new on the site. So please keep in mind that you have to manually select "most recent" at the top of the page when searching!

a vintage wedding shoot, part one

These photos were taken behind the scenes of a recent vintage wedding shoot with my point-and-shoot film camera. I worked with the lovely photographer Danica Suskin and the amazing stylist Angel Phillips (who styled the BUST photo shoot). We borrowed an amazing 1950's peach lace dress from vintage shop Ver Unica and added my brown velvet heels and a vintage fascinator. We took over the shop for a few hours, trying on everything in the store, spraying lots of hairspray, and taking silly photos of each other. And then we finally made our way to City Hall (amidst lots of car honking and cries of "Congratulations!") where we were followed by tourists capturing every moment on their cellphones. I guess I pulled off the blushing bride bit pretty convincingly, although I'm sure more than one person wondered where the groom had disappeared to! All I can say is that if you ever want to attract a lot of attention just walk around with a bunch of balloons. Preferably near a City Hall.

I'm sure it's quite obvious that I'm not really a pants person. I would rather wear a dress or skirt any day of the week, but every once in a blue moon I spot a pair of pants that makes me downright giddy. When I saw these babies at vintage shop Ver Unica last week I could hardly contain my excitement, especially when I realized they were navy and gold (they looked black at first). And sparkly! And high waisted! SOLD. I changed into them immediately and I just happened to be wearing this striped top, a pretty crazy stripe-on-stripe combo but I'm into it. I might just become a pants enthusiast yet!

a closet tour video

So here it is, the closet tour video. Basically several minutes of dresses galore and Donut the Cat lounging in the background looking rather fat and amazing. As comfortable as I am being photographed I still hate being in videos, so filming this made me quite nervous. I can't help but cringe hearing my own voice recorded and seeing my dumb hand gestures. But I'm sure most people can relate to that. And hey, there's nothing like a bunch of lacey vintage goodness to distract the eye!

mother's daughter fall lookbook

I love these beautiful lookbook photos from Mother's Daughter, one of my favorite online vintage shops. My pretty friend Hayden is the owner and she always manages to find the coolest treasures near and far, styling them on equally cool San Francisco girls. I love that these photos tell a story that just so happens to feature lovely vintage, my favorite kind of lookbook. They also make me want to go bowling and eat pizza in a pretty dress and knee socks (the perfect bowling uniform if you ask me).
