to my valentines

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you lovelies! Although this particular Valentine's Day is a special one to me (the first one with my soon-to-be-husband, ahem), I have always loved the holiday, even when I didn't have a significant other. There were superficial reasons for this, like my love of heart and cupid motifs, craving for pretty valentine themed candies, and fondness for pink and red. Now it's even better and more meaningful, especially when a certain someone wakes me up with breakfast sandwiches and a giant coffee with a love note written on the side.

I hope you are all cozy, warm, and feeling the love today! xo

happy thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, lovelies! Today I am thankful to be celebrating my two year anniversary with my mountain man in our warm home. I am also thankful for my wonderful family on the west coast (whom I miss terribly), my buddies spread out all over the place (I hope you are all enjoying this day too), the delicious rare steak I plan on eating tonight instead of turkey, and my job which makes me excited to get up and going every day. The world has been a weary place lately but I am still grateful for my place in it, and all I can do is appreciate the small, beautiful moments that come my way.

happy valentine's day!

Happy Valentine's Day, buddies! I am spending mine passing out vintage valentines to my coworkers (I know, the nerdiest) and then camping out inside with my mountain man and a glass of wine while the snow turns to slush outside. I will also be toasting my grandparents, who celebrate their 61st (!) wedding anniversary today. And, because I can't resist a holiday with such an awesome color scheme and motifs, I bought myself a few valentines: the vintage heart shaped chocolate box and red woven box purse in the photo above. What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

dream holiday parties

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is, not surprisingly, getting all dolled up for a good holiday party. It doesn't matter if that party takes place in a beautiful converted naval warehouse with ice sculptures and a skating rink (as my work's party this year did) or in a trashy karaoke dive bar (a holiday tradition). It only matters that a pretty dress, a bunch of friends, and lot of festive fun is involved. My party dresses this year have been mainly a parade of 1960s metallic brocade wonders, but if I were to dream up my ideal sartorial situations it would be these lovely getups. If only!

a christmas shindig

What's a holiday party without mistletoe, fifteen plates of cookies, and two fluffy bunnies? The lovely Jen hosted a Christmas party at her place and it couldn't have been more perfectly perfect. We danced, we drank champagne, we took silly photos... you know, the usual. We even had two special guests from out of town, the adorable Kala and Bruklyn. I'm happy to have friends that love celebrating the holidays as much as I do!

A vintage lace dress and fancy hair leftover from a ModCloth photo shoot.

Jen was the perfect hostess, as always!

Annalise in the cutest holiday dress ever.

Christina, lady of a thousand faces.

Bruk & Kala, the cutest!

There were bunnies!!!
