day trip: petaluma

coat  thrifted

dress  zara
scarf  h&m
short necklace  the vamoose
hat  vintage
purse  anthropologie
boots  anthropologie

Yesterday was perfect: a day trip to Petaluma to visit my favorite antique stores, getting lost in wine country and ending up on a balcony with the most amazing view and a glass of champagne, and finally bringing home a bag of some of the most beautiful vintage I have ever found. This was my adventure costume for the day, consisting of my favorite shades of brown. The little velvet hat in the last few photos is one of my new finds (I couldn't resist wearing it out of the shop). My favorite score of the day was a beautiful brown and cream dress that some cute lady had worn on her wedding day in 1941... and it actually came with a photograph of her wearing it! I wish every vintage dress I found came with that extra little bit of history.

The little velvet hat is gorgeous and what a great find with the wedding dress and photo. It would be wonderful to have photos of the original owner with all vintage, wouldn't it.

Oh, I love Petaluma! How fun. And those boots are amazing. I love finding vintage pieces out of town; there is almost always some little story - either in the findingg, or about the item itself - that makes whatever you find that much more special.

These photos are beautiful, and I love your outfit for the day - especially those boots! And it would be SO cool if every piece of thrifted and vintage clothing came with a photo of its previous owner wearing it! :)

That dress sounds quite the find - can't wait to see it and the photo of the original owner. So amazing that it came with the photo!

The color of that cardigan is so pretty and I love the other shades you paired it with! That's awesome about the wedding dress, I am always curious about who wore things before me!

You are lovely!

Wouldn't it be so fantastic to know the history behind every piece we find? I tend to make up my own stories too though, which is also quite fun (i.e. the power 80's dress that Tammy wore on the day she got fired from the ad agency and squealed the tires of her DeLorean out of the parking lot in pure rage - that's one of my favorite musings).

It's brilliant that the wedding dress came with a photo. I always wonder who's worn the clothes before I have.

I love vintage with history. Last year I bought a dark pink 1940s wedding dress which had a photo of the lady on her wedding day, it feels like I've been trusted with a precious heirloom. Love this outfit, so many chocolaty shades!

Adorable look! I'm usually not a big fan of colored tights, but these are just perfect with this autumnal look.

love the colors! and those boots are super cute. i wish every vintage dress came with its history too! when i was up in western mass. back in october, i came across two vintage dresses at a yard sale. one i sold and other other i kept for myself but she lady selling them said she wore them both in 1968 for weddings and they had been up in her mothers attic since them. she really loved them and was glad they were going to a good home where they would be appreciated!
