Congratulations to Penny Dreadful, the winner of the Bohemian Bisoux giveaway! Penny happens to have a darling blog and is fittingly vintage-obsessed. Thank you to everyone who entered the contest and left sweet words. There will definitely be more opportunities to win vintage treasures in the future!

fancy stuff

I've been feeling quite excited lately, I'm buzzing with so many ideas for Fancy Fine and beyond. What it comes down to is that I love sharing something on this blog (almost) every day, and I want to take advantage of this momentum and create other things that compliment what I'm already doing. For instance: an Etsy shop. It seems like a no-brainer, considering my own closet is the perfect place to find inventory. I won't share the other ideas with you just yet because I don't want to jinx myself, but if any of you have your own ideas about what you'd like to see (or maybe not see) when you visit Fancy Fine, please leave me a comment about it!

silver lining

I will buy anything that looks like an ice skater in the 60's may have worn it. Case in point: this swingy silver dress, which I found many years ago at a vintage store in Santa Rosa (the town I grew up in). I'm a sucker for that a-line shape. The Boyfriend and I were making plans to go ice skating soon and this dress might be the perfect costume to wear. At least I will look sparkly when I fall flat on my face!

dear golden

40's blouse  dear golden vintage

I fell in love with this blouse the second I spotted it in the Dear Golden Vintage shop. The shape of it is so perfect, and the delicate pink fabric is just the prettiest ever. It's certainly not the first time I've fallen in love with something from the shop! Lauren, the sweet owner of Dear Golden and a sponsor of Fancy Fine, hand picks the most amazing vintage from the 20's through the 70's (with a smattering of more recent finds thrown in) and leaves me with a never-ending mental wish list. She's having a pre-holiday sale today and tomorrow, 25% off everything in the shop, so have a peek! Here are a few of my favorite pieces (I'm seriously considering snagging that crochet blouse)...

please let me wonder

jacket  marc by marc jacobs
blouse  thrifted
skirt  thrifted

Three trusty wardrobe staples that have worked their way into many outfits: the navy jacket, the beige blouse, the polka dot skirt. One of them I spent an entire tax refund check on, and the other two were purchased for under $5 each. Each one perfectly encompasses a certain aspect of my style, which could be called lady-like sometimes, or playful and silly, with a (small) streak of tomboy. Whatever it is, it feels nice to wear an outfit composed entirely of longtime favorite pieces. Things I will probably hold onto even when they have seen their last wearable days.

small print

dress  vintage
cardigan  j. crew
tights  hue
shoes  zara

I bought this dress many years ago on a trip to New York. I fell in love with the tiny print (which has little stars and geometric shapes) and the easy shape of it. However, our time together has come to an end and I'd like for it to have a new home. If any of you are interested in buying this dress please email me at hi@ashleyording.com. $25 will get you the dress and a love note, shipping included. It will fit sizes x-small through medium, is made of a lightweight cotton, and is in excellent condition. Gotta make room in that crazy closet of mine!

SOLD!

P.S. Fancy Fine is on Facebook. If you need more of my daily obsessiveness, then "like" away!
