The older I get, the fancier I want to dress every day. A dress this lovely shouldn't be saved for a "special occasion." Certainly ducking outside to buy some cereal deserve its own romantic costume! Add to that some bright red lips... although they prove to be dangerous when you have a habit of constantly pulling dumb faces like I do. The sad result is marks of red on my chin, but perhaps I can pass it off as part of my Tragic Heroine look?

alemany flea market

I recently wrote a story for Refinery29 on my favorite flea markets in the Bay Area (you can read it here) and in the process I took waaay too many photos. These ones are from the Alemany Flea Market, a junker's paradise with a bit of beautiful vintage hidden here and there. That day I bought the dreamiest 1960's lace party dress, a funny basket purse, and a few tiny perfume bottles. These are all the treasures that caught my eye...

That cat box is still haunting me... it was only $5 but I didn't have any room for it in my apartment!

One of the highlights of my New York trip was being photographed with Emily by the sweet and talented Anna Li. We shot in Prospect Park during that magical golden hour and frolicked about like children on a sugar high. In fact, we caught the attention of pretty much every little girl under the age of 5 in the park, probably because we looked like fairies in our flower crowns and ruffled vintage dresses. One adorable girl watching us asked her dad if we were little girls too, and another joined us in spinning around and around until we were all dizzy and nearly falling over. The larger photos above were shot on film and the smaller ones are from Anna's Instagram. Now I just need these ladies to come visit me in San Francisco so we can shoot again...
