on a whim

I've been thinking a lot about what to pack for my trip to New York next week and it's making me anxious. I've set aside a few fancier vintage dresses that I haven't worn yet, but just when I think I may have narrowed it down I start to rediscover this or that treasure in my closet. When I get dressed in the morning it's almost always on a whim, so trying to plan it out in advance is strange for me. I wish I could just bring everything with me so I could leave all those sartorial decisions for the last minute before running out the door.

P.S. If you're going to be in Manhattan on September 10th you must come to this!

Oh, I do believe I spy the same red heart pendant that my mom gave me when I was about 5 years old! I recently unearthed it from a dresser drawer at her house and I wear it all the time, it makes me so happy!

Have fun in NY! Good luck with all that packing. ;)

I keep almost buying that amazing fieldguided tote! I really want it.. But can I justify almost £20 (with shipping to the UK) for a tote? Hmm!
Anyway I love your bags and jewels. Especially the coral-beady number with the gold clasp I can see poking out!

Yay for adventure!
I sometimes get the same way: packing way in advance...but I somehow always forget something. :P

I love that "Oh Shit" necklace! i ran into it once at a yard sale a couple months ago and i passed on it. ive regretted it ever since. it was only $1. biggest regret of my life.

I love that tote bag!

And the Oh Shit necklace as well!!!

Oh besides, I always have the same problems when packing.. I start to put things aside about a week before I really have to pack, then sort them out again, put other things aside, and then when I'm down to packing I get confused and can never decide what to really put in the suitcase and what not... and end up having way too much stuff with me. :-)

Speaking of sartorial decisions, I hope you get spotted by The Sartorialist! Living in NYC for the past six years, I still expect to be featured on his site every day; the fact that I wear jeans and t-shirts every day may be the problem!

Argh, all my favourite bloggers seem to be heading to NY at the moment!

I feel so far away and disconnected down here in little old New Zealand!

oh man. i am totally the same when it comes to getting dressed, which is why i ALWAYS over pack. seriously. i will bring a giant duffle bag with like, 5 pairs of shoes, 4 dresses, three skirts and 5 tops for a three day weekend. and of course, the one thing i want to wear is the one thing i didnt pack.
