a collar for me, a collar for you

coat  vintage
dress  vintage
collar  golden fur vintage
cardigan  vintage
belt  thrifted
bag  thrifted
boots chie mihara

Do you like the pretty pleated collar in these photos? Well then it's your lucky day because I'm giving one away to a lucky reader (see below)! It was made by the lovely Emily of Golden Fur Vintage, a new endeavor of hers that I'm quite excited about. I can never have too many pretty collars in my life! The hilarious cat-covered tote bag is a recent addition to my wardrobe, found at Idol Vintage here in San Francisco. The dress is an older favorite that I've worn so much it's starting to completely fall apart (oops). I don't remember where I found the lovely coat, but I do know that I will never part with it. The cat hair all over the coat is courtesy of my little buddy Donut.

To win the collar, please leave a comment with the following:

1. How would you style the collar?
2. What other fabrics would you like Emily make these collars in?
3. Your email!

The giveaway is open only to U.S. readers (sowwy!) and ends on January 10th. Good luck! xo

Ooh I want it.

1. Lots of different ways. I like the way you're wearing it, and I'd probably wear it a similar way, but for some reason I also feel compelled to wear it with my old, torn 1989 Rod Stewart t-shirt, faux leather leggings, and Dr. Martins. Madness.

2. Something black, and maybe a nice cotton floral lace (not too stiff).

1. I love wearing collars with super preppy outfits. Sweater vests are a must.

2. She should make some velvet ones.

I'm totally kicking myself for not getting that cat tote I saw yesterday!
I just don't wear totes usually, but it looks so lovely on you!

Oh my that collar is wonderful! What a talented lady!

1. How would you style the collar?
I would wear it over a velvet skater skirt dress with white tights and black T-strap flats.

2. What other fabrics would you like to Emily make these collars in?
Velvet (I'm obsessed), a velvet collar would be so lovely. Tulle would be interesting too, so it is all puffy like a neck ruff!

I'd wear it with my cute crew neck sweater, I think or an adorable dress like yours.

I think this type of collar is beautiful! I would think some with beads would be very pretty too.

I was really excited about your dress, and then I saw your cat purse and I almost had a conniption. Amazing.

The collar is lovely (but don't enter me because I've already been lucky with giveaways recently!).

I have seen a cat bag like that before but didn't buy because I was afraid I might look a bit twee. What was I thinking? It is amazing.

Wow, that collar is gorgeous.

1. I'd love to see some in black lace - it would be very Edwardian/Goth yet modern!

2. I would definitely style it with this black babydoll dress I have, with black tights and boots - the white would really pop out!

so pretty! i'd wear it all sorts of ways, but if it were today- i'd wear it with a solid fitted sweater, jeans, and oxford boots.

a collar in yellow gingham would be cute with a simple white tank in the summer!

i love your pin on your coat (and your coat) anything shiny draws me in my most prized pin is a tiny silver bluebottle fly one i found at a charity shop for 99p would save it from a fire for sure.

1. i would wear it bow in the front quite wide to show off le décolletage maybe with my prized insect pins huddled as a family on one side over something quite simple like just a black cord shift dress i have, ooh and lacy white socks poking over black boots are a must.

2. she should make them in different shapes in just a plain block colour fabric as well as different laces, a sailor square style, peter pan style, maybe some cut outs on the collars, embellishing, embroidering, but would love to see more delicate laces in shades of ivory and darker creams :) keep it up emily i think they are a great idea x

1. My first thought was over a pastel floral tank and high waisted flared jeans, but thrown over a simple t-shirt would be cute too.
2. Definitely tulle, and maybe in a couple layers to really pouf it up.

Ah, cool collar - it's a great invention! I think it could be styled with a lot of clothing. Whether it's a patterned dress or just a plain simple shirt. In any case it makes outfits more special in a way. :D

I'm wondering what fabrics Emily used, do make sure to announce that too sometime! ;)

I would love to wear this collar with a denim shirt, black skinnies and a wool blazer. I don't know why, but that's the first thing that came to mind.

Velvet is always my favorite for collars.

that collar is really gorgeous and i love all your layers! unfortunately i'm not in the US so i'm not entering the competition, but for the record, i would style it with a mid-length long sleeved cream or white dress, lace up boots and a sunhat, anne of green gables/picnic at hanging rock style.

I actually clicked through to your blog from Calivintage in order to admire your collar on a previous outfit!

1. That collar deserves to liven up a plan black dress, maybe velvet on some other heavy fabric, worn with an up-do to show of both of its sides.

2. What about a wool collar? Then it would be a cozy scarf/collar hybrid!
