a tattered dress & a giveaway winner

dress  vintage
necklace  the vamoose
shoes  vintage ferragamo

I found this lovely silk 20's dress a while ago and it sat in my closet unworn for months because it was almost floor length and looked horribly dowdy on me. I was nervous about hemming it because it's so old and delicate, but I'm so glad I finally did because now it's almost perfect. I say "almost" because I managed to puncture a large hole in one of the sleeves with my bony elbow, oops.

Ok, on to more pressing matters... the winner of the lovely tapestry bag from Vintagetastic is Leilani, who said her best Christmas gift ever was an MRI report saying her dad's cancer was dormant. It would be pretty difficult to top that. Congratulations to Leilani, and thanks to everyone else who entered!

I love that this looks like a dress with a matching little shrug, I'm a sucker for matching two piece clothing!

Aw that's such a pretty dress! I love the color and print. And it's from the 20s? Wow! I would almost be too afraid to wear it, let alone hem it!

ooh, i love it! i know some people think it's sacrilege to cut such an old dress short, but i'm right there with you. it's now the perfect length and you look lovely as always!

The little flower print on this dress set is so cute! I hope you've been staying warm enough. I hate all this wind we've been having.

The little ruffle trim is fabulous :) Great dress... Altering really old pieces always makes me nervous too, but you did a great job. You look just lovely in it!
