a polka dotted beginning

dress  vintage from custard heart vintage
socks  j. crew
shoes  vintage ferragamo

Christmas was bittersweet this year. I hopped a plane back to San Francisco and spent four wonderful days with my family, but knowing I'd have to head back to Philadelphia so soon left me feeling rather sad and homesick. I made the most of my short trip, however, and left with a suitcase crammed with the loveliest of gifts, including this 1960's polka dot dream dress and beautiful vintage Ferragamo shoes. The winter weather on the east coast is just starting to feel unfamiliarly cold and dreary but I'm making it my mission to avoid the doldrums by exploring my new surroundings and having as many new adventures as possible. I'm looking forward to 2013 and all the fun silliness I hope it will bring. My Ferragamo-clad feet are ready!

The first winter in a new city can be especially dreary, especially on the East Coast where people tend to hole themselves up during the snowy and frigid months, hibernating the grey away. Adventure is the antidote and I have no doubt you'll have plenty! Happy new year!

ps- that dress, simply amazing!

That dress is so gorgeous, and I love the subtle white texture (is it embroidery?). Also, at the risk of sounding silly, your radiator is crazy pretty!

East Coast Winters can be kind of rough, but also magical in their own way - snow is pretty neat! RInging in the new year clad in polka dots sets a good tone, too! xo.
