a little bit of you goes a long way with me

Photos by Joshua Cobos

cape  vintage, garage sale
dress vintage from female hysteria
hat  vintage, thrifted
necklace  vintage, flea market

I love pairing something sweet (like this heavenly lace 1960's dress from the amazing Female Hysteria Vintage) with something a bit more strange and dark like this incredible velvet cape. I found it at a random garage sale that happened to have a few pieces of impeccable vintage hiding in the corner. I'm not sure what era it's from but it looks like it could be quite old, possibly from the 1930's. Not a bad find for only $20! The 1940's-style heels are from a brand called Aris Allen that makes shoes specifically for swing dancing. I'm always excited to find shoes in a vintage style because my big feet (size 10!) make it hard to wear the real thing. I'm sure my fellow large-footed sisters share my pain!

I love this look. And the shoes are so sweet! I take a 9 1/2 or 10 in US sizes and so rarely see nice vintage shoes in my size. I have been envious of your Fletcher by Lyell shoes for the longest time now because I love the vintage look...if you ever decide to part with them...

Your photographs always make me chuckle. Were you a model in another life? (No, seriously...) Love the cape. It instantly reminds me of the cape Spanish matadors wear.

It warms my heart to know that you have big feet. Is that weird? I wear a size 11. :)

The heels are beautiful, by the way.
