bright spot

Photos by Isla, who makes it hard for me to not laugh in every photo!

I've been wearing knee socks a lot lately, a new habit that seems to elicit a wide variety of stares when I'm walking around. There is obvious joy from (creepy) old men, familiarity from young girls, and a general bewilderment on the faces of most women my own age. Knee socks are inherently youthful and it seems that there is no way to wear them without looking rather like a schoolgirl. Of course, with my penchant for short skirts and demure blouses, I went running with that look. It's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last, especially with this sock fever I'm experiencing. I'm sure I will get some kind of creepy email about it, much like the one I received recently that said simply: "I love jacking off to you on your blog." Er, thank you? Really warms the heart. Maybe I should change the name of the blog to Fanny Fine? ;)

Those shoes are THE thing, love them. I used to have a penchant for knee socks and over the knee socks when I was ypur age as well, Ashley, I thinkthe schoolgirl look is fine and dandy. And that hat makes me think of Anne of Green Gables, ah!

So lovely! Sorry you got a creepy email. I almost felt like the fashion blog world was immune to those kinds of emails, too bad it isn't. I love the blouse and hat. Such great colors you put together. Somewhere I have or used to have that very same skirt.

You know, in merry ol' England, Fanny means pussy.

Knee socks are the jam! I'm dipping back into them after realizing bare legs are a no-no up here most of the year : /

Love the skirt, and the socks are adorable. I can't believe anyone could be as creepy as the guy who sent you that email--seriously, did he really think you'd want to know that?

So sorry to hear you received such a revolting email. What a depraved individual he must be. Your blog should be for us vintage and style enthusiasts only, it feels like a violation for him to infiltrate and use it in such a grotesque manner. I'm so cross he felt he had to inform you of his masturbation.

Besides, I adore your hat and shoes in this picture. I think heaven would be to curl up in your wardrobe :) xx

it's a little too cold for knee socks here, but i was all about them in the fall! they do get a lot of weird responses though, someone yelled "NICE BOOTS" at me one night. :S

i also love the colour of your blouse! such a great shade of yellow
