maui vacation: part one

Aside from the frightening tsunami scare (and watching footage of all the devastation in Japan) my Maui vacation was quite wonderful. It almost feels wrong to say that now, in light of all the terrible things that happened... but all I can do is share with you the good parts. My parents and brother went on the trip with me (family bonding time!) and we celebrated my birthday by eating cake with almost every single meal. I think I'm still on a sugar high! So this is just the first round of photos, I still have a lot more to share (including several rolls of film).

This is my brother Joey. He collects t-shirts that say Victoria on them.

Totally bought one of these and used it for the rest of my trip.

This is what we looked like for most of the vacation: gorging ourselves on sweets!

Happy Birthday, doll. I'm glad you were able to make it safely home. It looks beautiful in Hawaii; I've never been. I have several pairs of jelly shoes; I love them because they're cheap & you can get em' wet.

What kind of plant is that hanging around your head? The blue/teal one in the garden.
It's hard not to feel completely relaxed or we may even feel a sort of guilt having fun when there are sad things happening out of our control. Just keep doing what makes you smile and keep Japan in your heart while doing those things. Glad you made it home safely.

Oh goodness these are lovely photos. what a pretty cake. no wonder why you ate it with every meal! I can understand how Japan would be on your mind so much being over there.
