she wore blue chiffon

I am a complete and total sucker for anything chiffon and pleated. This floaty blue number is another find from my new favorite place in the world, Adamstown (a.k.a. Antiques Capitol of the USA!) and cost me only twenty bones. I wore it on New Years Eve with a giant fancy necklace and glittery shoes, and now I'm all about dancing around my apartment in it with nothing but flowers in my hair and bare feet. You can take the girl out of San Francisco...

ellegirl japan

I was beyond thrilled when I was approached last month about having my apartment featured in ELLEgirl Japan, especially because Japan has always been at the very top of my list of places I'm dying to visit. It's fun sharing my new apartment because it still feels like the perfect blank canvas, a space that is completely my own and a large part of my new life in Philadelphia. I'm still tweaking things here and there but it's already becoming a cozy home in my eyes. Perhaps once I acquire a few more pieces for my Gene Wilder shrine I will feel really solid. As for what the article above actually says, I can't even begin to remember, but I can guarantee it's super dorky. And I'm actually 28 (the article says 27), but I may have been enjoying a glass or two of red wine while responding to questions, so...

minor themes

My grandmother's class ring circa 1943, a prized possession. She also gave me the amazing pink glass hand (the blue one is from Bohemian Bisoux Vintage).

A 1950's beaded top from Bohemian Bisoux Vintage and a few of my sillier books.

Flowers leftover from a photo shoot: green eyed roses & hydrangeas, two favorites.

An amazing old painting from an antique mall in Adamstown, my favorite find as of late.

Newest additions to the always growing vintage brooch collection.

blue winter

I found this pretty blue dress hiding in the corner of an antique mall, sandwiched between polyester maxi dresses and oversized hawaiian shirts. I bought it without bothering to try it on because I knew at a glance it would fit perfectly, a skill honed from many years of flea market and thrift store scavenging (and sneakily trying things on both over and under my clothes). I've been making a point of going on an adventure outside of Philadelphia every other weekend, which usually involves a lot of antique stores, greasy burgers at even greasier diners, and people watching, a much-needed escape after an incredibly busy week. I keep bringing my camera with me but forgetting to take a single photo aside from a few Instagram snaps. I promise I'll be better next time, if I can stop oohing and ahhing long enough to press the damn shutter!

a floral trouser

Pants, again! This is the same Charlie Trouser from Anthropologie that I featured before, but in a lovely navy floral fabric. I paired this one with a pretty silk blouse in the palest shade of pink to balance the wild print, but I could just as easily see these with a similarly bold floral or striped blouse. And it doesn't hurt to have a weird elephant charm bracelet, soft window lighting, and messy curls in the mix. See more Charlie outfits I created for the Anthropogie web site here, and peek at the newsletter feature!

Working for Anthropologie has many lovely perks, and one of them is being able to see all the beautiful clothing and accessories many months before they are actually available to purchase. When I first caught glimpse of the adorable Charlie Trousers I knew they were destined to be a brand favorite but assumed they'd never make it anywhere near my own closet. Because, as you know, I hardly ever wear pants. So when I was given the challenge of styling the Charlie Trousers in my own way I was hesitant at first but now I'm completely smitten! They come in all sorts of fun prints and colors, but this grey brocade version is my favorite by far. I love the gamine, Audrey Hepburn-style cut and the fact that they are nice and stretchy (without being tooooo stretchy). They strike the perfect balance between feminine and tomboy and look perfectly perfect paired with my usual layers of vintage lace and frills. Perhaps I could be an occasional pants wearer after all? Hey, anything that elicits such positive comments about my bum must be alright.

Take a peek at a fun feature (I created the outfits for) here, and check back soon for another outfit inspired by the Charlie Trousers in a beautiful navy floral print!
